Maybe all those letterboxes in Connecticut are finally starting to
breed due to their close proximity! ;-)
And now that they have become sentient, they are starting to log
themselves in.

hmmm..reminds me of StarTreks' famous episode "The Trouble with
Tribbles". I must say though, that the prolific tribbles were much
cuter (on the outside, that is)than our beloved oblong plastic
treasure filled letterboxes
